Last Friday November 19, along with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh a large number of MPs and ex-MPs assembled in the Central Hall of Parliament to pay floral tributes to Smt. Indira Gandhi before her portrait.   A question that had been on my mind since some weeks, was : when in 1971 Indiraji decided to help Sheikh Mujibur-Rahman carve out an independent Bangladesh for the Bengalis of East Pakistan, was she also simultaneously thinking of an operation in West Pakistan aimed to achieve two major objectives, namely :     (a)   to balkanize West Pakistan, and (b)   to liberate Pakistan occupied Kashmir ?   When I say that this question had been on my mind since a few weeks, I say it because in September, Rupa Publications had sent me a book published by them under the title Bangladesh Liberation War : Myths and Facts. भारत की दृष्टि से, बराक ओबामा की नई दिल्ली यात्रा अत्यंत संतोषजनक रही। केंद्रीय कक्ष में सांसदों को उनके सम्बोधन की विषय वस्तु और भाषण देने की कला-दोनों ही सर्वोत्तम रही।   उनके द्वारा दिए गए भाषण का संक्षेप रूप् में राष्ट्रपति के शब्दों में ही, मैं यहां उदृत कर रहा हूं।   यह कोई संयोग की बात नहीं है कि एशिया की यात्रा पर भारत मेरा पहला पड़ाव है, या यह कि राष्ट्रपति बनने के बाद से यह मेरी किसी अन्य देश की सबसे लंबी यात्रा है।   एशिया में और विश्व भर में भारत केवल उभरता हुआ देश नहीं है;  भारत उभर चुका है।     और मेरा यह दृढ़ विश्वास है कि अमेरिका और भारत का रिश्ता – जो हमारे साझे हितों और हमारे साझे मूल्यों की डोर से बंधा है –21वीं शताब्दी को परिभाषित करनेवाली साझेदारियों में से एक होगा।     हमारे साझे भविष्य में मेरे विश्वास … Continue reading एक वैश्विक साझेदारी

From India’s point of view, Barack Obama’s New Delhi trip has been very satisfying.
