Thanks Advani ji for again writing on history of India.
I remember my history teacher who taught me what Britishers gave us (advantages) like trains, electricity etc... What ever I know about our grate historical past I learn from outside of my school education.

Our history books contains some weak points of our culture, but now is the time to remember our glorious past and again make our country because we have best culture, best knowledge and best opportunity to show the world that we are the Best and still Humble to serve others.

I agree, interesting thing is that the children in schools in Britain are not even taught about the British Empire and their deeds. Thank you sir for pointing out these interesting books to us.

Sir, Your article reminds me of the famine that had struck Bengal, east and south India in 1943-44. It was the biggest and most devastating famine in India during the past 170 years of British rule. Epidemics followed, especially cholera and malaria and spread to other provinces. As per a scientific survey conducted by Calcutta University in the famine areas, as many as 34,00,000 people died due to the famine in Bengal alone. As Nehru wrote in his book 'The Discovery of India', "This famine unveiled the picture of India as it was below the thin veneer of the prosperity of a small number of people at the top - a picture of poverty and ugliness of British rule. That was the culmination and fulfillment of British rule in India. It was no calamity of nature or play of the elements that brought this famine, nor was it caused by actual war operations and enemy blockade. Every competent observer agreed that it was a man-made famine." For British though it was a "normal occurrence".
